Five offline RPGs that don't need a single bar of signal
Finding a mobile RPG that works offline is harder than it should be. So many of them quietly phone home for daily logins or ads, and the moment you're underground the whole thing seizes up. This list is only games we've confirmed run start to finish with no connection.
Emberfall Saga sits at the top for me. The turn-based combat has actual strategy to it, and the party skill trees give you real choices instead of a single obvious build. I finished the main story entirely on flights and never hit a paywall.
If you want something lighter, look for shorter tactical RPGs that save between every fight. The key trait is a local save system — if a game can restore your run after a force-close, it'll almost always survive being offline too.
My advice: before a trip, open a candidate game and toggle airplane mode on immediately. If it still loads and lets you fight, it's a keeper. If it hangs on a spinner, delete it before you're stuck on a train with nothing to play.
