What separates a relaxing sim from a chore simulator
I love a good simulation game, but the genre has a dark side: apps that pretend to be relaxing while actually running on nagging timers and endless busywork. Tiny Orchard is the opposite of that, and it made me think about why.
The difference is respect for your time. A good sim lets you do a satisfying chunk of work and then walk away without punishment. A bad one drips out progress so slowly that you feel obligated to keep checking back. That's not calm, that's a leash.
Offline sims tend to be the healthier ones, honestly. Without a live server they can't gate your progress behind timers designed to nudge purchases, so they lean on actual gameplay loops instead. Tiny Orchard's crops grow on a simple local clock and that's it.
If a sim makes you feel anxious about logging in, it's failed at the one thing it's supposed to do. Uninstall it and find one that lets you breathe.
